Evolution knows...

Got a little theory for you all tonight!

First, lets recall the cold callous nature of evolution. It's singular short term goal is to pair good genes with good genes. This leads wonderfully, of course, to evolution's long term goal: a propagation of good genes, and a furthering of the species. Hence, considerations of attractiveness, wealth, physical health, and mental aptitude by the parties involved. By encouraging males and females to take these things into consideration, evolution helps propagate an ever improving species.

Second, let's remember the very risky nature of pregnancy on women, especially for the all but the last 75 years or so. Evolution, clever as it is, needed to ensure that when women did become pregnant the risk to them was worth it. How best to do this? By encouraging, through natural selection, women to be selective in their partners. Of course men can also be selective, but there are few if any health risks to men if they behave otherwise.

But with the introduction of birth control, especially oral contraceptives, the risk of pregnancy plummutted and women were free to pursue sex in a manner equal to that of men. Of course pregnancies still do sometimes result, which is to say a new pairing of genes results.

So how does evolution, in it's cold, relentless pursuit of genetic progress guide humanity back to selective partnerships? Well, life threatening and highly adaptive sexually transmitted diseases might be a good way. Hence, the HIV virus.

The objective of this post is twofold. First, to point out a Universe-Eye view of the current sexual climate. Second, and this of course related to the first, to offer an alternative to this ridiculous idea that AIDS has something to with God punishing humanity for homosexuality. It's wildly, profanely, and otherwise horrendously.....goofy.
