Double Lives

I was driving to an appointment today, without batteries for my cd player and too disinterested in the blandness that is modern radio. I was thinking about how we all kind of lead double lives. Myself for example. The is the Zac that is flesh and blood. This Zac has a brain that stores a mind, and this Zac has a layered nervous system to keep him alive. Then there is the other Zac. The Zac that is a number, this is the paper Zac. He is without distinction, he has no sense of place or time. Just a number to fill the blank space on the form.

I really dont think they have anything to do with each other. Not a thing. They live parellel existences, and they only interact when Paper Zac is called by the powers that be. Paper Zac owes money. Paper Zac needs insurance. Paper Zac must pay taxes and keep records. Paper Zac responds, but never initiates. Paper Zac has never examined his surroundings or even had a single thought. Paper Zac must be seen to be needed, he must be called upon. I dont even really know who Paper Zac is, for he has no qualities, positive or otherswise. He is not present, he never as been and he never will be. But he cannot die. As long as there are way to record information his existence is always a possibility.

The Flesh and Blood Zac (FaB Zac) does not need money. He doesnt need things. He doesnt remember anything for any other reason than to protect and encourage his own evolution (physical, emotional, spiritual and otherwise). FaB Zac is in a recurring exchange of initiations and responses with other FaB people. His body exists for his mind and his mind exists for his body. He is in a constant state of exploration. When you get right down to it he can really only ever be present. He will die someday and his existence may fall off the books in time.

Flesh and Blood Zac never thinks much of Paper Zac, and Paper Zac never thinks at all.

Talk about a regular Bob Dole moment. All this third person is making me hungry for lunch.
