Watch This. (WARNING)

A little over a year ago I was lucky enough to watch the film The Barbarian Invasions. It's a French-Canadian flick and man... is it a great movie. I didn't completely get it as I watched it, and following the movie didn't come with any revelations. But then I saw it for real cheap at the store, and I remembered that I liked enough to want to see it again. A few weeks go by until I have a chance to pop it in. Instead of going to the movie though, I check out the special features. They have a featurette, Inside the Barbarian Invasions. Expecting some kind of half hour HBO 'Making Of.." type presentation, I was pleasantly surprised. A TV crew had sat down all the actors in the film and gave them food and wine and then had them discuss the movie. What developed was a stunning conversation.

All kinds of fascinating ideas and bits of food for thought bounced around the table. And the quality of insight these people have is extravagant. They move from topic to topic, from thoughts on the modern world to relationships and dynamics within a family and across generations.

Now about that warning: It's not at all necessary to have seen the actual film to appreciate the dinner conversation, so if i see you in the next couple of days I will probably bother you until you sit down and watch the featurette.

Zac,
I think maybe you are missing your calling and should go into marketing. I'm referring to the title of your last blog, "Watch this. (WARNING). The double message immediately pulls me, the reader, right in. Next thing I know, you'll have me eating Big Macs again.

Love,

Dad
